Pony Club Camp Essentials

With Summer Holidays soon to be upon us brings with it the excitement of many going off to Pony Club Camp for a week. The Nettex Mini range of products are ideal, affordable and easy to transport in a grooming bag. Trying to remember what to pack can be quite daunting especially if it is your first time. We have put together a few helpful essentials to help take the stress away for a happy healthy horse why you are away.

Pony turnout kit:

  • Mane & Tail detangler to help keep your pony’s flowing locks tangle free & shiny
  • Plaiting spray for neat, tight plaits for the end of week competition
  • No Rinse washes are ideal especially when time is short and quickly remove sweat, dirt & grease and to restore your horse or pony’s coat back to its natural condition without having to give a full bath
  • Stain Remover to quickly and efficiently remove grass or stable stains and to whiten and brighten but is suitable for all coat colours
  • Coat shine to give that added sparkle and stand out from the crowd
  • Fly Repellent to help provide protection against flying midges and biting insects
  • Tack Cleaner and conditioner to ensure your tack is clean and shiny
  • Hoof Oil for shiny hooves. Nettex Hoof Oil 400ml comes with a cap and brush for easy application
  • Don’t forget bucket and sponges

Rewarding your Horse or Pony:

  • Tasty treats are a hand held treat that come in 3 delicious flavours. Carrot Cake, Mellow Mint and Apple blush
  • Non messy treat that is ideal to offer after a long day at camp and to show your pony you care
  • They are also ideal to help with stretching exercises to help keep your pony supple especially if stabled for the week
  • Suplayx are an all-round mineral and vitamin molasses based feeding block ideal to prevent boredom especially if stabled and non-sticky formulation

Keep your Horse or Pony Hydrated:

  • Horses that regularly sweat when working or travelling, especially in warm weather need vital salts replaced
  • Electrolyte supplements need to contain sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and chloride.  So adding table salt to feed or supplying a salt block will not meet your horse’s needs
  • Feeding electrolytes before, during and after camp will enable your horse to recover more efficiently after sweating

Keep Calm and Carry on:

  • Some ponies may become a little excitable during camp. Especially if  they are not use to being away from home and lots of new horses and ponies around them, change of environment and usual routine
  • If you have a horse that is stressed over the entire Pony club camp period try feeding a calmer daily over this time. Other Check List Essentials:

  • Check your horse or pony’s shoes before leaving for camp. Ideally ensure they have been newly shod before they go. Nobody wants loose or lost shoes
  • Feed & Water Buckets, feed, supplements, hay & bedding, mucking out utensils
  • Saddle, Bridle, saddlecloth, boots, bandages and fleece or cooler
  • Headcollar & Leadrope
  • Safety – Riding hat, Body Protector, gloves
  • Jodhpurs, crop, stock, tie, hair ties, hair net, boots, half chaps and cross country colours, show shirt and Jacket, waterproof lightweight jacket
  • Grooming kit, Plaiting kit
  • First Aid Kit just in case – Scissors, Poultice, Gamgee, bandages, thermometer, wound gel, Clear wound spray, veterinary scrub, cotton wool, hand gel
  • Camera to remember all the fun you have had
