Lynn Russell’s top picks and top tips!

Nettex Mane & Tail Detangler is a great product and I could not be without it! Each day throughout the winter I spray it on manes as it helps a great deal to preserve the mane when using rugs with neck and hoods. As the name suggests, it’s also great on tails.

I wash the tails regularly throughout the winter with Everyday Conditioning Shampoo to stop them discolouring with the mud. After washing I spray generously as this helps to keep the tail hair from clogging up so you don’t need to continuously brush – great on those fine tails as it helps keep the hair from breaking off.

With the show horses I need to keep their legs clean so they need regular washing. If I use anything too strong it strips the natural oils causing the skin to dry out and leave the hair feeling course. However, luckily Everyday Conditioning Shampoo doesn’t do that so I happily use on a daily basis. It rinses out easily and leaves the hair feeling beautifully soft – as well as removing the dirt! Great on manes and tails. My Scotties like it as well and it leaves them soft and silky!

Another product I use regularly and couldn’t live without is the Hi-Shimmer Coat Spray. I spray it on the tails after washing and detangling as it helps seal the hair and leaves it feeling well conditioned. It also helps prevent dirt sticking to the tail, so a fabulous product! At the early shows when it is too cold to wash manes after plaiting I spray over each plait and they gleam! It looks like I’ve just washed it and prevents the dust sticking to it. I’d thoroughly recommend this product for quick spruce up and dazzling pre ring appearance. I have even used it on my boots!

I put my trust in Nettex.
